About

Oratorian Life

The Oratorians of the Holy Ghost are a family of priests and brothers who seek holiness together through charity, prayer, study, and apostolic work. We do not bind ourselves by vows, but by a freely chosen stability of life and by fraternal love. Under the patronage of the Holy Ghost, we desire to be docile to His inspirations, steadfast in the perennial Catholic faith, and faithful amid the trials of our time. As Catholics who hold the sedevacantist position, we hold to the doctrine and moral teaching handed down in the Church and order our life accordingly.

Our Charism

  • Family, not a regiment. The Oratory is built on friendship in Christ and mutual encouragement rather than juridical constraint.
  • Docility to the Holy Ghost. He is the bond of our unity, the light of our decisions, and the strength of our perseverance.
  • The spirit of St. Philip Neri. Cheerfulness, humility, patience, and pastoral zeal—winning souls more by kindness than severity.

Life in Common

We live together under a Provost and a simple rule that fosters charity, order, and freedom. Our fraternal life includes common meals, recreation, and regular spiritual conferences. Corrections are made with gentleness and discretion, with the desire to gain a brother.

Common Prayer

While we are not bound to recite the Divine Office in common, we celebrate Vespers and Compline in choir daily. These shared hours sustain our fraternity, protect interior recollection, and keep our life ordered around the worship of God.

Daily Spiritual Exercises

  • Time each day for mental prayer, spiritual reading, and an examination of conscience.
  • Community prayers and brief silences that protect interior recollection.
  • Regular spiritual direction within the community.

Study and Formation

We pursue ongoing study of Sacred Scripture, Catholic doctrine, moral theology, and pastoral practice. Conferences aim to form sound confessors and preachers marked by clarity and charity. Brothers and candidates are introduced steadily to the Oratorian spirit and way of life.

Apostolic Charity

We serve through preaching, catechesis, spiritual counsel, and works of mercy according to our state and ability. We care for a public chapel and related apostolates as Providence allows. We visit the sick and assist those who seek the help of the Church.

Our Position in the Present Crisis

We hold to the sedevacantist position regarding the present crisis in the Church, yet we do not make this our sole identity. We are simply Catholics who strive to believe, worship, and live as our Holy Religion has always taught. We do not wish to engage in polemics or politics. Our soul aim is the salvation of souls.

Joy, Discipline, and Peace

St. Philip Neri taught that holiness grows in joyful perseverance. We value good humor, a bright countenance, and fraternal recreation. At the same time, we embrace the simple disciplines that guard freedom of spirit: moderation, order, and fidelity to daily duty.

Hospitality

Friends, benefactors, and those seeking counsel are welcome. Those wishing to visit our chapel or inquire about spiritual assistance may reach us through the Contact page.
